Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with community service. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football with his three brothers for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975. He was also selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. Following graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the squad. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
