Swallow was born in the city of Jacksonville, Florida. She received a bachelor's degree from University of Virginia in Middle Eastern Studies. Swallow graduated with a master's degree in acting in the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Swallow was a character in both bad and good guys on television and films. She played a police detective on Ringer and a wife of a detective in Southland and a bounty hunter on CBS' The Odds pilot The Odds and a bank criminal in Medium. To top it all off, she was a mermaid in Flight of the Conchords and she was in the film The Rift directed by Shana Sosin.
